Song Yulin
was born in November 1947 in Tai Co County, Jiangsu
Province. He studied painting under the guidance of
his father, the famous landscape painter Song Wenzhi,
since he was a small child. He graduated from the Department
of Stage Setting, Shanghai Institute of Dramatic Art.
For some years he worked as a stage-setting designer
after his graduation. It was in 1979 that he began to
take up the position as a landscape painter in the Chinese
Painting Academy of Jiangsu Province. Since then his
works of art have been exhibited in China and abroad,
and collections of his paintings have been published.
He has won many prizes in national and provincial art
exhibitions. His works are in the collection of museums
in China and in foreign countries. He visited West Germany
in 1988. A member of Chinese Artists Association, he
is the Chairman of Young Artists Association, Jiangsu
Province, Honarary Curator of Song Wenzhi Museum of
Art, Deputy Director of Academy of Chinese Painting,
Jiangsu Province, First Grade Artists' and Deputy Assessor
of High Grade Artists, Jiangsu Province.
