Dear readers:

Welcome to the new www.china-gallery.com English edition!

Opened on November 18, 2000, this English website has been under construction in the past three months. What you see now is the newly upgraded version from February 25, 2001.

If you are a frequent visitor, you may have noticed the drastic changes that have taken place in the content and design of this site. First of all, we have adjusted the content into eight separate sections: News, Forum, Market, Person of the Month, Archive, Art & Life, Education, and Special Columns. The former section of Book is now part of Market, while the former Policy & Law section is now part of Education. Person of the Week has become Person of the Month to be better focused. You may enter each of the first seven sections through just a click of the upper banner at the top of the site page or any of the buttons on the homepage. Signs of the special columns appear on the right side of the homepage, including Yang's Corner, Modern Calligraphy, Tongzhou Artists' Community and Art Dictionary. Also, you will see that the design of the site is much more modern, convenient, and eye-catching than before. We understand there is still a long, long way to go for everything to be satisfactory and a better English edition of www.china-gallery.com demands the efforts of all of us: the editors, the designers, and you - the readers.

Particularly remarkable is that we have opened an art forum for our readers. Here you can freely express what you think of everything happening in the art world. For example, we recommend some focal issues that have recently become centres of heated discussions among Chinese artists and scholars. They include topics such as what is the bottomline of Chinese painting, what role should art criticism play, and, more sensationally, corruption in the art world. You may submit your comments and arguments by clicking the botton on the left side of the page.

Above all, we would like to read your comments on the website itself and suggestions on how to improve it. You may click Editor's Mailbox to send an email or simply click Comments and Argument to submit your words.

Please always remember to come back. You will see a different www.china-gallery.com English edition each time.

Best wishes and good luck.
