Born in 1936 in Huixian, Henan, Xing began to work at the Henan Normal University after graduation from high school in 1953. He retired in 1996. He started his exploration in modern calligraphy in the early 1980s and since then has exhibited his works in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Australia. He has also won several prizes for his works and has co-organized exhibitions of calligraphism.
