Born in 1955
in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, Liu graduated from the Nanjing Normal University, majoring
in oil painting. He now teaches at the fine arts department of Yangzhou Vocational
Training University. Now a board member of the China Society of Modern Calligraphic
Arts, Liu started his explorations in modern calligraphy in the late 1980s.
Since 1995£¬ he has made experiments to include modern calligraphy in contemporary
art. Liu has exhibited his works in major exhibitions of modern calligraphy
and has held several solo shows in Yangzhou and Beijing.
